Ahead of Rajasthan Assembly Session, Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully Criticizes Government, Demands Accountability

Jaipur: On the eve of the Rajasthan Assembly session, Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully delivered a strong message to the state government, emphasizing accountability and responsiveness. Speaking after an all-party meeting held ahead of the session, Jully said that several significant and substantive issues were discussed during the deliberations.

Highlights:

  • All-party meeting reviewed key issues before Assembly session
  • Opposition demands government response on every issue
  • Criticism of “Disturbed Areas Bill” for harming Rajasthan’s image
  • Opposition to assertively raise OBC reservation and UGC-related matters

Demand for Government Accountability

Jully stressed that the opposition clearly demanded that the government respond to every issue raised in the House. He said that while the form of the response is at the government’s discretion, answering queries is mandatory under democratic norms. “Farmers, youth, women, and the underprivileged of the state are watching the Assembly proceedings with high expectations,” Jully said. “The all-party meeting should yield positive outcomes, or else the old situation will persist. The opposition will not back down from raising its issues.”

Criticism of the Disturbed Areas Bill

During the meeting, the opposition also raised concerns about camera installations in the Assembly and vowed to address these issues firmly once the session begins. Jully criticized the state government for introducing the Disturbed Areas Bill, claiming it tarnishes Rajasthan’s image. He asserted that the bill’s intent undermines the state’s long-standing reputation for hospitality and questioned the motivations and mindset of its proponents. “The impact of this legislation will become apparent in due course, and its negative effects on tourism are already visible,” he added.

UGC Code and OBC Reservation Issues

Regarding OBC reservation in TSP areas, Jully said the matter will be discussed in detail within the legislative party. He assured that the opposition will vigorously defend the rights of all sections of society in the Assembly. On questions about the UGC Code of Conduct, Jully said the party’s stance is not yet finalized. He noted that legislation promoting non-discrimination and social harmony should not face objections, and the party’s final position will be announced later.

Assembly Session to Begin Wednesday

The Rajasthan Assembly session is scheduled to begin on Wednesday. Ahead of the session, an all-party meeting chaired by Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani was held on Tuesday. During the meeting, all parties agreed to conduct the proceedings peacefully and in accordance with established rules and traditions.
