Patna: RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has once again found himself at the centre of political controversy after leaving the Bihar Assembly’s winter session midway to go on a pre-planned vacation to Europe with his family. The timing of the trip—soon after the party’s electoral setback—has triggered sharp reactions from political opponents and social media users alike.
The controversy intensified after the BJP’s Bihar unit shared a short video of Tejashwi Yadav strolling casually in a blue suit and sky-blue shirt at what appears to be a luxury European resort. The video, posted on the party’s official social media handle, was accompanied by a sarcastic caption mocking the RJD leader for “enjoying himself after sinking the party.”
Set to a popular Bollywood song with lyrics suggesting newly acquired status and luxury, the visuals show Tejashwi relaxed among pool loungers and deck chairs—an image that BJP leaders used to question his political seriousness.
BJP Targets Tejashwi, Calls Him ‘Carefree After Defeat’
Sharing the video, the BJP wrote that after “destroying the RJD,” the “Class 9 pass leader” was now indulging in leisure abroad. The post quickly gained traction, clocking thousands of views, hundreds of likes and shares, and sparking a heated debate online.
Netizens Divided
The reactions from netizens were sharply divided.
Some users defended Tejashwi Yadav and criticised the BJP for what they termed “cheap politics,” pointing out that leaders across parties take personal vacations. Others advised Tejashwi to show restraint and dignity after electoral defeat, warning that public displays of luxury could damage his image.
A few users accused political parties of hypocrisy, while some launched personal attacks on Tejashwi, questioning his leadership, education, and commitment to party workers following the loss.
Party Under Pressure, Questions Over Leadership
Tejashwi Yadav’s absence has also triggered unease within the RJD. While internal meetings are reportedly underway to analyse the party’s defeat, senior leaders have privately expressed concern over his prolonged stay abroad. Sources say that growing influence of party strategist Sanjay Yadav and Tejashwi’s perceived disengagement have added to internal tensions.
Veteran leader Shivanand Tiwari has also, on multiple occasions, hinted at arrogance and leadership gaps within the party—remarks widely interpreted as indirect criticism of Tejashwi.
Family Vacation Amid Political Storm
Tejashwi Yadav is reportedly spending the Christmas and New Year holidays in Europe with his wife Rajshree Yadav and their two children, Katyayani and Iraj. He was last seen in the Assembly on December 1 and 2 before leaving.
As Bihar’s political temperature rises, Tejashwi Yadav’s European vacation has become more than a personal trip—it has turned into a symbolic flashpoint, raising questions about political accountability, optics, and leadership at a crucial moment for the RJD.
