50 Families in Jabalpur Return to Hindu Dharma, Cite Children’s Future as Key Reason

Jabalpur: In a significant event held at Khamaria’s Shiv Temple, 50 individuals from 50 families formally returned to Hinduism (Sanatan Dharma), adopting new names as part of the ritual. The ceremony, conducted with Vedic chants, was organized by the International Hindu Council.

New Names and Religious Reaffirmation
Among the participants, Shamim Khan became Shamim Banjara, and Pappu Khan is now Pappu Banjara. All participants, predominantly from the Banjara community in Hinotiya Bhoi village, Barela, took part in religious rites and pledged to uphold Sanatan Dharma. The event was marked with chants of “Jai Shri Ram”, reinforcing the spiritual ambiance.

Children’s Future a Driving Factor
Shamim Banjara stated, “We joined the rituals willingly, without any external pressure. Our ancestors may have strayed, but our lives have been challenging, and we do not want our children’s future to be compromised. This decision is for their welfare.”

Similarly, Pappu Banjara added, “We have long desired to reconnect with Hinduism. Now our wish is fulfilled. We plan to live here permanently and ensure our children receive proper education.”

International Hindu Council’s Role
Preeti Dhandharia from the International Hindu Council highlighted that the program was aimed at facilitating a return to Sanatan Dharma. Community leaders emphasized their appreciation for Sanatan culture, which encouraged these families to embrace Hindu traditions once again.

This event represents a conscious effort by families to secure cultural and spiritual continuity for the next generation, marking a notable instance of religious reconversion in central India.
