New Delhi, 18 November 2025: BJP national spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain has criticized Congress for raising unnecessary concerns over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list. Hussain remarked that instead of creating a ruckus, Congress should be pleased that its vote share has increased by 600% following the Delhi elections.
Addressing the media, Hussain said, “Congress is unnecessarily making statements against the SIR process. They should be happy that their vote share has grown by 600% since the Delhi polls. In Delhi, Congress did not win a single seat. Yet in the Bihar Assembly elections, the party managed to secure victories in six constituencies. Earlier they blamed EVMs, now they are using SIR as an excuse.”
Congress Leadership Holds Meeting on SIR
Hussain’s statement comes at a time when Congress leadership convened a high-level review meeting on Tuesday at the party headquarters, Indira Bhawan. The meeting included in-charge officials from 12 states and Union Territories, state unit chiefs, Congress Legislative Party leaders, and secretaries. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, former president Rahul Gandhi, and several senior leaders participated. The review focused on the ongoing SIR exercises and strategies to monitor voter list accuracy.
Congress Campaigns Against Alleged Vote Manipulation
The meeting was organized as Congress faced a significant setback in the recent Bihar Assembly elections, where the NDA won 202 seats, leaving the Mahagathbandhan with only 35 seats. The Mahagathbandhan includes Congress, RJD, three Left parties, and the VIP. Party leaders discussed strategies to raise awareness against alleged vote manipulation and irregularities.
SIR Progress Across 12 States and UTs
The Election Commission announced on Monday that over 50 crore voters have already received partially filled SIR forms as part of the ongoing voter list revision across nine states and three Union Territories. The states and UTs involved include Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Puducherry, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and Lakshadweep. In these regions, SIR exercises are being conducted to ensure voter data accuracy ahead of upcoming elections, including the 2026 assembly polls in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, and West Bengal. Assam has also been included in the “Special Revision” exercise.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s Husband Questions Bihar Poll Results
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s husband, Robert Vadra, raised serious questions regarding the Bihar Assembly election results. He alleged that if the elections had been conducted through ballot papers, the results would have been completely different. Vadra highlighted widespread public suspicions of manipulation and claimed that the Chief Election Commissioner appeared biased, referring to him as BJP’s ‘B-Team.’ Vadra added that millions took to the streets to support leaders like Tejashwi Yadav, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi, yet the election outcomes reflected irregularities, undermining public trust.
