Weather Update for February 3, 2026: Rain Warning for 8 States, Dense Fog in 17 Districts – IMD Alert

As the country braces for the lingering cold, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for moderate to heavy rainfall across eight states over the next 12 hours. Meanwhile, dense fog is expected in 17 districts of North India. In hilly regions, snowfall may disrupt travel and pose challenges for commuters.

Heavy Rainfall Forecasted in Eight States
The IMD has predicted that by evening, eight states are likely to experience moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds of 40-50 km/h, which could intensify the cold. The states under alert include Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu. People in hilly states such as Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir are advised to exercise caution. Fishermen along the Tamil Nadu coast are also urged to remain vigilant.

Dense Fog in North India
Seventeen districts in North India are expected to experience dense fog, affecting visibility and travel. In Uttar Pradesh, districts including Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Lucknow, Kanpur, Raebareli, Agra, Mathura, and Aligarh are under alert. Haryana districts such as Gurugram, Sonipat, Panipat, Fatehabad, Hisar, and Jind, along with Punjab districts including Amritsar, Patiala, Hoshiarpur, Faridkot, Bathinda, Firozpur, and Jalandhar, will also witness heavy fog in the morning hours.
