New Delhi: Delhi-NCR is feeling the heat as daytime temperatures rise and nights lose their chill. Similar warming trends are being observed across Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan. Currently, no rainfall is expected in the region.
Delhi Sees Rising Mercury
After light showers on Wednesday, Delhi has experienced a sharp increase in temperatures over the past few days. The weather remains mostly dry with moderate humidity. On Friday, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 28.4°C, which is 2.9°C above the seasonal average, while the minimum temperature stayed at 12.8°C, slightly higher than normal. Humidity levels ranged between 40% and 100% throughout the day.
Forecasts indicate clear skies on Saturday, with morning fog possible. Temperatures are expected to reach a high of 29°C and a low of 13°C, remaining steady until February 26, with highs ranging between 28°C and 31°C and lows between 12°C and 15°C.
Warming Across Uttar Pradesh
The heat has also set in across Uttar Pradesh. Ayodhya recorded temperatures above 30°C, while sunlight in Lucknow and Noida intensified. The Meteorological Department has issued alerts for rising temperatures and morning fog over the next few days.
Delhi Weather Outlook
According to Skymet, no western disturbance is expected from the western Himalayas. However, a dry cyclonic system may form over central and eastern Rajasthan on February 22–23, which could alter wind patterns in Delhi and surrounding areas. Despite the shift in winds, rainfall is unlikely, and dry conditions will persist. The month is showing early signs of pre-monsoon warmth, with daytime temperatures gradually increasing.
The mercury in Delhi is expected to cross 30°C by Sunday, with warm weather continuing into mid-next week. Between February 23–27, strong, hot surface winds may blow, although the maximum temperature is unlikely to exceed 32°C for the rest of the month. So far, the highest temperature recorded in February was 31.6°C on February 16.
