Severe cold conditions coupled with dense fog continue to affect large parts of the country, disrupting daily life and transportation. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather warnings for several states, including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Assam and Meghalaya, cautioning residents about persistent fog and cold wave conditions over the next few days.
According to the IMD, Bihar is likely to experience dense to very dense fog during night and morning hours till December 26. Assam and Meghalaya may witness similar conditions till December 27, while Uttar Pradesh is expected to remain under dense fog cover till December 29. In Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh, foggy conditions may persist till December 30.
The weather department has also warned of cold day to severe cold day conditions between December 25 and 28 in Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Uttarakhand is likely to experience cold day conditions from December 25 to 27, while parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh may face similar conditions on December 25 and 26.
Delhi-NCR Weather Today
In Delhi-NCR, cold weather and fog are expected to continue over the next few days. IMD forecasts light to moderate fog during morning and night hours, with dense fog at isolated locations. Reduced visibility may affect road, rail and air traffic, prompting authorities to advise caution.
Uttar Pradesh Weather Outlook
Temperatures have dipped once again across Uttar Pradesh, intensifying the winter chill. The meteorological department has issued an alert for dense to extremely dense fog over the next two days. Several districts may also experience cold to severe cold day conditions. On December 26, the weather is expected to remain dry across both western and eastern parts of the state, though fog is likely at many places.
Bihar Weather Update
Bihar continues to reel under biting cold due to icy northwesterly winds. A cold wave alert has been issued for the next three days. Dense fog is expected in several regions, including West and East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Katihar, Banka, Rohtas and Bhabua, covering northern, south-western and south-eastern parts of the state. A sharp drop in temperatures has been recorded over the past 24 hours.
Jharkhand Weather Forecast
In Jharkhand, including the capital Ranchi, a cold wave warning has been issued for 12 districts over the next 24 hours. The drop in temperature is expected to further intensify winter conditions across the state.

Authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel during early morning and late night hours, and take adequate measures to protect themselves from the cold as winter conditions tighten their grip across northern and eastern India.
