Weather Update, 18 February 2026: Rain Alert for Delhi-NCR, Hail Warning in Rajasthan

New Delhi: Weather patterns across India are showing significant changes today. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rain alert for Delhi-NCR, while snowfall is expected in the hill states. Here’s a state-wise forecast for 18 February 2026.

Delhi-NCR

Delhi may experience light to moderate rainfall today. The city’s daytime temperature recently reached a high of 30.9°C, but on Wednesday, the IMD forecasts a maximum of 27°C and a minimum of 14°C. Along with rain, strong winds blowing at 30-40 km/h are expected in the afternoon.

Uttar Pradesh

The state will see major weather changes due to an active western disturbance. Western and northwestern districts may experience light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, strong winds, and hail in some areas. Eastern and central UP will see sunny spells. In Noida, clouds will persist throughout the day with chances of light rain or drizzle. Following the rainfall, temperatures are expected to rise over the next few days.

Rajasthan

A western disturbance is likely to bring light rain to parts of Rajasthan. Cities including Jodhpur, Bikaner, Ajmer, Jaipur, and Udaipur may witness showers in the afternoon. The western disturbance will have its greatest impact on Bikaner, Ajmer, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Kota divisions, and the Shekhawati region, with winds reaching 30-40 km/h in some areas.

Tamil Nadu

Due to a low-pressure system forming in the Bay of Bengal, heavy rainfall is forecast in at least 10 districts of Tamil Nadu. While the state is expected to remain mostly dry on 18 February, rain is predicted to start on 19 February in southern coastal districts and delta regions. By 20 February, as the system strengthens, moderate rainfall is likely across several parts of Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory of Puducherry.
