Weather Update – 13 December 2025: Severe Cold and Fog Alert in North India

New Delhi: North India is set to experience intense cold and dense fog on 13 December 2025, with warnings issued for Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana. Hill stations in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh may also witness snowfall.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi will see partly cloudy skies with light morning fog, with temperatures ranging from 11°C (min) to 25°C (max). Dense fog is expected in parts of Uttar Pradesh, potentially reducing visibility during morning travel.

State-wise Highlights:

  • Delhi: 11°C – 23°C, light fog in the morning.
  • Mumbai: 16°C – 34°C, generally clear.
  • Kolkata: 17°C – 26°C, partly cloudy.
  • Chennai: 22°C – 28°C, warm and humid.
  • Lucknow: 11°C – 24°C, foggy in the morning.
  • Patna: 13°C – 24°C, dense morning fog expected.
  • Ranchi: 8°C – 22°C.
  • Shimla: 6°C – 21°C, cold with chances of snow.
  • Manali: -7°C – 8°C, extremely cold.
  • Nainital: 6°C – 19°C, snow possible in higher altitudes.
  • Dehradun: 8°C – 22°C.

North India Cold Wave

  • Punjab & Haryana: Cold wave alert from 13–14 December, with temperatures dropping well below normal. Residents are advised to take precautions against severe cold.
  • Uttar Pradesh: Dense morning fog in western and eastern regions until 15 December may reduce visibility, affecting travel.
  • Bihar: Cities including Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur, Purnia, and Ara may experience heavy fog during mornings and evenings, necessitating extra care while commuting.

Hilly Regions Alert

  • Uttarakhand & Himachal Pradesh: Snowfall likely in higher altitudes. Travelers are advised to check road conditions before heading to hill stations.

IMD advises: Citizens should remain cautious of fog-related travel disruptions and take appropriate measures to stay warm during the cold spell.
