Weather Forecast for January 31: Heavy Rain Alert in 8 States, Winds Up to 40 km/h, IMD Issues Advisory

The weather is set to change across India once again, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warning of heavy rainfall over the next 24–48 hours in eight states, including Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Rajasthan. Light rainfall is also expected in Delhi tomorrow.

Snowfall Expected in Himachal, Uttarakhand, and Other States
Due to an active western disturbance, the IMD has forecast rainfall with snowfall in the western Himalayan regions over the next one to two days. Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand may experience snow along with rain, while northwestern and central plains could witness light rainfall. Winds in these regions are expected to blow at speeds of 30–40 km/h.

States Under Heavy Rain Alert
The IMD has issued alerts for eight states and three Union Territories. Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu & Kashmir may experience heavy rainfall accompanied by snowfall. Meanwhile, Ladakh, Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, western Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Arunachal Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall during the next 24–48 hours.

Delhi-NCR Weather
Delhi-NCR continues to experience cold conditions. The IMD has forecast partly cloudy skies for the next three days. Maximum temperatures will remain below normal, while northwesterly winds are expected at around 10 km/h during the day. On the morning of January 31, fog is likely in several areas, with dense fog in some places. Light rainfall accompanied by gusty winds of 30–40 km/h may occur at night.

Uttar Pradesh Weather
Following recent rainfall, cold wave conditions persist across Uttar Pradesh. The IMD has issued a dense fog alert for several districts. Western UP may experience light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms on February 1–2, while eastern UP is likely to see similar conditions on February 2.

Bihar Weather
Weather is expected to remain mostly normal in Bihar over the next few days, with no rain or cold wave alerts issued. Dense fog may persist in several districts, particularly on the morning and evening of February 1. Minimum temperatures are likely to remain between 5°C and 9°C.

Rajasthan Weather
From January 31 to February 1, Rajasthan may experience thunderstorms with heavy rainfall. Winds of 30–40 km/h are expected, with gusts up to 50 km/h. Western Rajasthan may see localized hailstorms, potentially affecting crops. Temperatures may drop by 2–4°C over the next few days.

Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir
Heavy rainfall and snowfall are expected in Uttarakhand and Jammu & Kashmir until February 3. The IMD has issued warnings for snow in higher altitudes and rain in the plains. Minimum temperatures in these regions may fall below 0°C, with increasing cold after snowfall.
