
New Delhi / Northern India: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh weather alert for northern India, warning of heavy rain, strong winds, and a continuing cold wave in several states. Residents are advised to take precautions, especially the elderly and children.
Heavy Rain Warning for Five Northern States
The IMD has issued alerts for heavy rainfall accompanied by winds reaching 40–45 km/h in Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh. The rainfall is expected to cause a drop in temperatures. While Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh may experience rain on 1 February, Rajasthan is likely to see rainfall on 31 January.
Cold Wave in 19 Districts
A severe cold wave is predicted in 19 districts of northern India. In Uttar Pradesh, cities including Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Kanpur, Bareilly, Amethi, Bijnor, Aligarh, Agra, Mathura, Muzaffarnagar, and Meerut will experience chilly mornings with wind speeds of 10–15 km/h. Haryana districts such as Gurugram, Rewari, Mahendragarh, Charkhi Dadri, Sonipat, and Panipat are also under cold wave alert. In Punjab, Mansa, Bathinda, Barnala, Muktsar, and Fazilka will witness sharp morning chills.

- Delhi: Morning temperatures will remain low, but sunshine is expected after 10 AM. Max: 19°C, Min: 7°C. Light rain may occur on 1 and 3 February, with winds at 15–20 km/h.
- Lucknow: Cloudy during the day, max: 21°C, min: 11°C. Dense fog is expected across 15+ districts including Saharanpur, Barabilly, Ayodhya, Bijnor, Meerut, Hardoi, Shahjahanpur, Lucknow, Barabanki, Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Kushinagar, and Pratapgarh.
- Bihar: Wind speeds of 10–15 km/h, with moderate to dense fog in Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi, East and West Champaran, and Gopalganj. Max: 22°C, Min: 12°C (Patna).
- Uttarakhand: Frost likely in Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh, Chamoli, Almora, Nainital, and Pauri Garhwal. Max: 21°C (Dehradun), Min: 11°C; Nainital Max: 19°C, Min: 9°C. Rain possible on 1 and 3 February.
- Himachal Pradesh: Clear weather on 30 Jan, with rain expected from 1–3 Feb. Max: 17°C (Shimla), Min: 4°C; Manali Max: 1°C, Min: -9°C, with chances of heavy snowfall.
- Jammu & Kashmir: Moderate to heavy rain expected from 31 Jan to 2 Feb with winds of 40–50 km/h in districts including Anantnag, Ganderbal, Kupwara, Poonch, Rajouri, Kishtwar, Mirpur, and Muzaffarabad. Max: 4°C, Min: -5°C (Srinagar).
- Rajasthan: Clear on 30 Jan; rain expected from 1–3 Feb in Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Churu, Bikaner, and Alwar. Max: 20°C, Min: 11°C (Jaipur).
- Madhya Pradesh: Dense fog expected in Gwalior, Guna, Shivpuri, Panna, Vidisha, Satna, Chhatarpur, and Sidhi. Cloudy in Bhopal, Max: 24°C, Min: 11°C.
