New Delhi: Indian Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh on Wednesday emphasized the central role of air power in modern warfare, asserting that the Indian Air Force (IAF) has the capability to strike multiple targets within Pakistan in just a few hours.
Air Power: The Most Effective Force
Addressing the 22nd Subroto Mukherjee Seminar, the Air Chief highlighted how air power has repeatedly proven to be the most effective instrument in achieving strategic objectives, citing recent global and domestic conflicts. “Looking at events worldwide and in India, there is no need to question which branch of the military delivered the most precise and decisive results. The answer is air power,” he said.
Air Force Achievements: From Humanitarian Rescue to Strategic Strikes
Air Chief Marshal Singh recalled the IAF’s capabilities across various missions, from humanitarian operations to combat scenarios. “Whether it was safely evacuating people from conflict zones, as we did in Sudan, striking terrorist infrastructure and leadership, or sending a strong message in Pakistan by attacking multiple targets within hours to bring adversaries to their knees, air power achieved the impossible. This feat must be remembered,” he said.
Future Preparedness Requires Investment in Air Power
Stressing the importance of continuous focus and investment in air power, the Air Chief said that India must enhance these capabilities to maintain its status as a “global power.” He noted that today’s security environment is rapidly evolving, where speed, reach, and precision have become decisive factors. His statement comes amid ongoing discussions on modernizing the armed forces and adapting to the changing nature of warfare.
