“The Nation Will Not Forgive,” Kiren Rijiju Slams Congress Over Disruption During President Murmu’s Address

By Ashok Upadhyay | New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu addressed a joint session of both Houses of Parliament on the first day of the Budget Session. During her speech, opposition MPs created a ruckus over certain issues, prompting strong criticism from the BJP, particularly targeting Congress and other opposition parties.

Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju said the disruption during the President’s address will not be forgiven by the nation. He highlighted that opposition members were creating a commotion even when tributes were being paid to literary icon Bankim Chandra Chatterjee and the sacrifices of Guru Tegh Bahadur.

President Murmu appealed to all MPs to cooperate in the smooth functioning of the House. She emphasized the government’s commitment to “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” and true social justice, noting that over the past decade, 25 crore people have been lifted out of poverty, and social security coverage has expanded from 25 crore to 95 crore people.

What Sparked the Protest
The disruption occurred when President Murmu highlighted the “Developed Bharat-Gram” law, aimed at providing 125 days of guaranteed employment in rural areas. While NDA-BJP MPs applauded the initiative, opposition MPs stood up in protest, demanding the law be repealed.

The President also outlined the strong foundations laid over the past 10–11 years to achieve the goal of a developed India by 2047. She spoke of empowering the poor in the government’s third term, a corruption-free administration, and ensuring every rupee spent contributes to national development. She cautioned against the misuse of artificial intelligence, deep fakes, and misinformation, calling for collective deliberation to protect democracy.

References to Operation Sindoor and Maoist Challenge
President Murmu highlighted decisive action under “Operation Sindoor” against Maoist insurgency, noting a significant reduction in extremist threats. She reiterated that prosperous farmers remain a top priority for a developed India, referencing the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme and praising the “Developed India–Giri Ram Act” for accelerating rural development and curbing corruption.
