The Supreme Court of India has declined to list the petition seeking an urgent hearing regarding the ongoing Indigo Airlines flight crisis. The bench, headed by Chief Justice D.Y. Suryakant, noted that the Government of India has already taken cognizance of the issue and is actively addressing it.
During the hearing, lawyers highlighted the widespread disruption caused by sudden flight cancellations across several airports in the country. They emphasized that passengers were left stranded without prior notice, calling it a serious matter affecting thousands of travelers.
Chief Justice Suryakant, along with Justice Joymalya Bagchi, acknowledged the inconvenience faced by passengers, particularly those requiring urgent medical or essential travel. However, the bench stated that the government has already intervened and taken timely action. The court decided not to prioritize the matter for immediate hearing, opting instead to observe the situation for further developments.
Indigo Flight Crisis Persists
The Indigo flight disruption continues into its seventh day. Over 5,000 flights have been canceled so far this month. On the current day alone, more than 250 flights were grounded. Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport and Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport were among the worst affected, with 134 and 117 flights canceled, respectively.
The situation remains critical for stranded passengers, as they continue to face uncertainty and inconvenience amid the ongoing operational challenges faced by Indigo Airlines.
