New Delhi: On the occasion of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar’s 115th birth anniversary, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat stressed the importance of national unity and patriotism, emphasizing that India should focus on living and progressing rather than succumbing to divisive rhetoric.
Speaking at the event, Bhagwat remarked, “It is time for India to live, not to die.” He condemned language that threatens national integrity, including slogans like “Tere Tukde Honge” (You will be broken into pieces), stating that such divisive expressions have no place in a strong nation.
Focus on Unity Over Caste and Religion
Bhagwat highlighted that division based on caste or religion is wrong and recalled Savarkar’s vision of a united nation. He emphasized placing the nation above individual or sectional interests and reminded citizens that India’s strength lies in its diversity and collective spirit.
Addressing the audience, which included Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other dignitaries, Bhagwat urged people to rise above minor conflicts, stating, “Even small disputes should not overshadow the greater mission of nation-building.” He cited the example of a small squirrel contributing to Lord Rama’s Vanara Sena in the construction of Ram Setu, illustrating that every individual’s contribution matters when motivated by selflessness for the nation.
Message of Selfless Service
The RSS chief underlined that only by setting aside selfish interests can India achieve its potential and emerge as a global leader. He urged citizens to follow Savarkar’s legacy of selfless service, work for the welfare of the country, and uphold national integrity above personal or community interests.
Bhagwat’s message was clear: India must prioritize unity, patriotism, and collective progress, leaving behind divisive ideologies and slogans that threaten harmony.
