New Delhi: The death of a NEET student in Bihar has escalated into a major political issue, with protests now reaching the national capital. What began as a localized demonstration has transformed into a high-profile protest outside Parliament, led by leaders and MPs of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
RJD MPs are demanding accountability from the Bihar government over the NEET student’s death and have also raised objections regarding the presentation of the 2026 Union Budget. Speaking outside Parliament, an RJD leader accused the combined government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of failing the public. “Even daughters in Bihar are not safe,” the leader asserted.
The Bihar government has handed over the investigation to the CBI, but no significant updates have been released, prompting allegations that authorities are trying to suppress the matter. RJD MP Meesa Bharti emphasized the need for justice for the NEET student, stating, “We demand that those responsible be held accountable. The Bihar government under Nitish Kumar is betraying its people. We also want answers on why women in the state continue to face such disregard.”
In addition, RJD leaders have criticized the Union Budget 2026 presented on Sunday, accusing the Modi government of neglecting Bihar. Leader Manoj Jha and others highlighted that the demand for “Special State Status” for Bihar has once again been overlooked, further fueling the opposition’s protest.
The RJD’s demonstrations in Delhi underline the intensifying political pressure on the Bihar government amid growing public outrage over the NEET student’s death and perceived regional neglect.
