During his visit to Germany, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed concern over the declining manufacturing sector in India, emphasizing the need to boost production to strengthen the country’s economy.
In a video shared by Congress leader Alok Sharma, Rahul Gandhi recounted his visit to a BMW factory, saying, “We visited the BMW factory, and it was an excellent experience. I was particularly pleased to see the 450cc TVS bikes being manufactured here. I believe they will perform very well. It was also heartening to see the Indian flag flying proudly here.”
He added, “India needs to focus on production. Manufacturing is the key to any country’s success. Our manufacturing sector is shrinking when it should be growing.”
Warm Reception at Berlin Airport
Prior to the factory visit, Rahul Gandhi received a warm welcome at Berlin Airport from the Indian Overseas Congress (IOC). Party workers greeted him with flower garlands as he began his five-day visit to Germany.
Engaging with Indian Diaspora Leaders in Europe
During his visit, Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to participate in a major IOC event, where he will meet leaders from across Europe. The program aims to strengthen the Congress party’s global outreach. Gandhi will address the Indian diaspora and discuss NRI-related issues and the party’s ideology with various regional heads in Europe.
Political Reactions in India
The announcement of this foreign tour during the Winter Session of Parliament has drawn criticism from BJP leaders, who questioned Gandhi’s commitment to domestic politics. Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi defended her brother, stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi spends a significant portion of his tenure abroad, so criticism of the opposition leader’s foreign visits is unfair.
