PM Modi’s New Office: Prime Minister’s Office Shifts to ‘Seva Teerth’ Complex on Makar Sankranti

In a historic move on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti (14 January 2026), Prime Minister Narendra Modi is shifting his office (PMO) to a brand-new building. The new PMO is now located at the ‘Seva Teerth’ complex, developed under the Central Vista Redevelopment Project. This state-of-the-art complex has been designed to house the Prime Minister’s Office, the Cabinet Secretariat, and the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS) in separate buildings.

Seva Teerth: A Modern Hub of Governance

The new PMO will operate from Seva Teerth-1, featuring modern workspaces and ceremonial halls themed around the spirit of ‘Seva’ (Service). With this shift, an era comes to an end, as the Prime Minister’s Office had been functioning from the South Block since India’s independence in 1947.

Meanwhile, Seva Teerth-2 already accommodates the Cabinet Secretariat, which moved last September, and Seva Teerth-3 will host the office of the National Security Advisor.

Project Details and Cost

Constructed by Larsen & Toubro at a cost of ₹1,189 crore, the entire Seva Teerth complex (also referred to as the Executive Enclave) spans 2,26,203 square feet. Following the PMO’s relocation, the historic North and South Blocks will be converted into a public museum called the ‘Yuge Yugin Bharat Sangrahalaya’. For this, a technical collaboration agreement was signed with a French museum development agency on 19 December 2024.

Vision: Moving Beyond Colonial Legacy

In line with PM Modi’s vision to move away from colonial-era legacies, a new official residence for the Prime Minister, currently named Executive Enclave Part 2, is also being constructed nearby. This aligns with previous initiatives such as renaming Rajpath to Kartavya Path.

Modernizing Governance

The shift is part of a broader effort to create modern workspaces and enhance administrative efficiency. New Common Central Secretariat (CCS) buildings are being developed to consolidate ministries that were previously spread across Delhi. Last August, Kartavya Bhawan was inaugurated and has already brought several ministries under one roof.

With the PMO’s relocation to Seva Teerth, India steps into a new chapter of governance, blending tradition, modernity, and operational efficiency in the heart of the nation’s capital.
