New Delhi, February 19, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented India’s new “MANAV Vision” for Artificial Intelligence at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, outlining a human-centric blueprint for managing AI in the coming decades. Addressing global policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, and civil society representatives, PM Modi explained that “MANAV” stands for “human” and represents ethical, accountable, and inclusive AI governance.

Decoding MANAV

  • M – Moral and Ethical Systems: AI should operate on ethical guidance.
  • A – Accountable Governance: Transparent rules and robust oversight are essential.
  • N – National Sovereignty: Data ownership and digital self-determination must be ensured.
  • A – Accessible and Inclusive Systems: AI should be multipolar, avoiding monopolies.
  • V – Valid and Legitimate: AI systems must be legally verified and trustworthy.

Global and Domestic Relevance

According to the Prime Minister, MANAV is not only a framework for India but also serves as a guiding structure for the global AI ecosystem. He emphasized that India’s MANAV vision could become a critical pillar for human welfare in a 21st-century AI-driven world. PM Modi also highlighted emerging risks, particularly the need to protect children in an increasingly AI-integrated society.

AI in Daily Life

The Prime Minister stressed that AI tools must be safe for children and families, and called for stronger safeguards as AI becomes more integrated into everyday life. He noted that the current global scenario, including scrutiny of platforms like Meta and YouTube in the U.S. for promoting “engineering addiction” among children, underscores the urgency of his vision. PM Modi concluded that the future belongs to a world where humans and intelligent systems work collaboratively for societal benefit.
