PM Modi Receives Warm Welcome from NDA Lawmakers After India-U.S. Trade Deal

In a show of support and celebration, NDA lawmakers warmly welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a parliamentary meeting in New Delhi following the historic India-U.S. trade deal. Lawmakers congratulated the Prime Minister for securing a significant agreement that reduces U.S. tariffs on Indian goods.

Historic Trade Deal and Tariff Reduction
On Monday night, U.S. President Donald Trump announced a reduction in tariffs on Indian products from 25% to 18%. Following the announcement, both leaders expressed mutual gratitude. Prime Minister Modi welcomed the decision, highlighting the benefits for India’s 1.4 billion citizens.

Posting on social media platform X, PM Modi said:
“It was a pleasure to speak with my dear friend President Donald Trump today. I am delighted that tariffs on ‘Made in India’ products have been reduced to 18%. On behalf of 1.4 billion Indians, I sincerely thank President Trump for this wonderful announcement.”

He added:
“When two major economies and the world’s largest democracies work together, it benefits our people and opens countless opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation. President Trump’s leadership is crucial for global peace, stability, and prosperity. India fully supports his efforts for peace, and I look forward to working with him to take our partnership to unprecedented heights.”

NDA Leaders Celebrate the Moment
The NDA parliamentary meeting also marked the formal welcome of the party’s newly elected president, Nitin Naveen. The meeting was attended by key leaders including Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP National President JP Nadda, and other senior leaders.

The trade deal is widely expected to strengthen India-U.S. economic ties, enhance bilateral trade, and open new avenues for growth across sectors such as manufacturing, technology, and agriculture.

Trump’s Remarks on the Call
Earlier, President Trump spoke to PM Modi over the phone to discuss trade and other strategic issues. U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gore confirmed the conversation. Trump later shared on his social media platform, ‘Truth Social,’ that speaking with PM Modi was an honor, describing him as one of his closest friends and a powerful, respected leader of his country.
