New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded BJP-nominated Rajya Sabha MP C. Sadanandan Master for his debut speech in the Upper House, sending him a personal letter praising his “moral strength, firm conviction, and self-confidence.” Modi highlighted Sadanandan’s courage, patriotism, and respect for Indian culture in his note.
In the letter, Modi commended the MP for presenting his points in a “calm and confident manner” despite being new to Parliament. “Although you are new to the House, you bring with you a lifetime of commitment and service to the ideology of putting the nation first,” the Prime Minister wrote.
Modi emphasized that Sadanandan’s words reflected his inner moral power and steadfast belief. The MP shared pictures of the Prime Minister’s letter on the social media platform X, expressing his gratitude: “Truly blessed to receive this recognition from the globally renowned Shri Narendra Modi for my first speech in the Rajya Sabha. This priceless encouragement from the nation and its leader will greatly strengthen my resolve to serve.”
During his speech, Sadanandan had revealed his prosthetic legs, a move that drew significant attention and criticism from the CPI(M), who labelled it a “stunt.” Modi noted that while Sadanandan’s courage was well known in Kerala, displaying his prosthetic limbs in Parliament left the nation astonished. He recalled that the MP had lost both legs three decades ago in an attack by CPI(M) activists and remarked, “It is remarkable that in our vibrant democracy, someone could face such an attack, yet today you sit in Parliament with pride, a testament to your resilience.”
The Prime Minister also acknowledged Sadanandan’s pride in patriotism, Indian culture, and his concern for Kerala’s development. Modi observed that recent feedback from his Kerala visit indicated public appreciation for the vision of a “developed Kerala” and expressed confidence that Sadanandan would be pleased with the benefits of the state’s recently presented budget provisions.
