“PM Hides Behind Speaker… Getting Lies Told,” Priyanka Gandhi Accuses PM Modi

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, dismissing claims made by the Lok Sabha Speaker regarding an alleged plot by opposition members to create an “unexpected incident” in the House.

Speaking from the Parliament premises, Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi called the Speaker’s statement “completely false and nonsense.” She alleged that the Prime Minister is hiding behind the Speaker and having false narratives presented on his behalf because he “did not have the courage to attend the House himself.”

Priyanka Gandhi told reporters, “This is entirely untrue. There was no question of any plan to do anything against the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister is hiding behind the Lok Sabha Speaker and getting these false statements delivered. He avoided coming to the House because three women MPs stood in front of his seat—what kind of nonsense is this?”

What the Lok Sabha Speaker Said

Earlier, Speaker Om Birla had stated in the House that several Congress leaders attempted to approach the Prime Minister’s podium in the Lok Sabha to carry out an unexpected act, which is why, at his request, PM Modi did not attend the session. Birla added that the behaviour of some opposition members inside his chamber on Wednesday was unprecedented since the inception of the Lok Sabha.

Describing the incident, Birla said it was “like a black mark,” highlighting that the nation witnessed female members reaching the Prime Minister’s designated seat, which, according to him, was inappropriate.
