In a worrying development along the Line of Control (LOC) in Jammu & Kashmir, Pakistani drones have been repeatedly spotted over the past few days. Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi reacted strongly to the incidents, calling Pakistan’s actions a deliberate provocation and asserting that India will respond.
Singhvi’s Statement on Pakistani Drones
Posting on X, Singhvi said, “Pakistan has returned to its old tactics. Just days after Operation Sindoor, drones have been sighted again in Jammu and Kashmir. This is not a mistake, but a deliberate act of hostility. India is watching and will respond!”
Repeated Drone Sightings Along the LOC
Reports indicate that in the last five days alone, drones have been observed three times near the LOC. On 15 January, drones were spotted near the Poonch and Samba districts. Security forces promptly activated their anti-drone systems (UAS) to counter the threat. Sources confirmed that drones were seen hovering near army posts in Poonch and in the Ramgarh sector of Samba district near the international border. The forces remain on high alert.
Army on High Alert Ahead of Republic Day
The Indian Army has raised alert levels along the border in response. In Rajouri district, soldiers opened fire to prevent multiple suspicious Pakistani drones from entering Indian territory. Earlier in Samba, security forces recovered weapons and ammunition dropped via drones, including two pistols, three magazines, 16 bullets, and a grenade.
The repeated sightings, especially ahead of Republic Day celebrations, have raised serious concerns about Pakistan’s intentions. Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi has also addressed the issue, noting that it was raised in recent DGMO talks and directed prompt action. Singhvi’s statement reinforces the need for vigilance and a measured response.
