Over 100 Terrorists Poised to Infiltrate India; Security Agencies on High Alert as Strategies Shift

New Delhi: Indian security agencies are on high alert as over 100 terrorists are reportedly positioned across 69 active launch pads on the Pakistan side of the Line of Control (LoC), awaiting opportunities to infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir. The threat has escalated in recent months, with increased drone surveillance and foot movements observed by Indian forces. Terrorists are now attempting to use new infiltration routes, but Indian security mechanisms have been strengthened to counter such moves, including the enhancement of the Counter-Infiltration Grid.

Why Infiltration Attempts Are Rising
According to IG Ashok Yadav of the BSF Kashmir Frontier, infiltration attempts typically increase as winter approaches and snow begins to block traditional routes. “Continuous movement has been detected from the other side, and drone monitoring has intensified,” he said. So far this year, four infiltration attempts have been successfully foiled, resulting in the elimination of eight terrorists, indicating that Indian forces are effectively containing threats despite the challenging terrain.

Challenges on the Ground
Yadav warned that operations in this region remain extremely difficult due to harsh cold, rugged mountains, adverse weather, BAT attacks, sniper threats, ceasefire violations, and potential fidayeen operations. The Border Action Teams (BAT) of Pakistan, comprising both soldiers and terrorists, conduct night raids and ambushes, often exploiting winter routes where regular patrolling is limited.

Strategic Shift Post-Operation Sindoor
The BSF official noted that Operation Sindoor in May reshaped India’s preparedness. Pakistani terrorist camps and logistic hubs in PoK are under continuous surveillance. Some camps have shifted locations to avoid Indian strikes. Intelligence reports indicate that Pakistan’s “deep state” is now prioritizing Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) over Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), with JeM weakened due to losses in Operation Sindoor, including family members of Masood Azhar. Saeed, the LeT leader, is reportedly directing terrorist networks in Bangladesh as part of an attempt to increase activities on India’s eastern front.

Implications for India
The BSF warns that infiltration attempts led by LeT may intensify, especially in the pre-winter period. Indian security agencies are taking these threats seriously, increasing surveillance, multi-layered monitoring, advanced sensors, drones, and specialized training along the LoC to ensure preparedness for any aggressive moves.
