Indore/New Delhi: The Nivaraha Foundation is set to roll out a nationwide initiative titled “Media Integrity Protection Campaign” starting December 6. The campaign aims to tackle the growing menace of fake journalists, fraudulent YouTubers, blackmail gangs, and illegally operating media houses, demanding strict legal action against them.
As part of the campaign, the foundation plans to submit memorandums to district collectors, police superintendents, and commissioners across every district of India, urging authorities to:
- File FIRs against fake journalists
- Take immediate action against YouTubers and media groups involved in blackmail and extortion
- Enforce punitive measures against media houses violating the Digital Media Act 2021
Fake Journalism: The Biggest Threat to Media Credibility — Vinayak Ashok Luniya
The campaign will be led by senior journalist Vinayak Ashok Luniya, who emphasized the urgent need for action:
“The credibility and integrity of Indian media are under serious threat. Fake YouTubers and self-styled journalists, selling their content for a few hundred rupees, are tarnishing the image of media. They neither follow journalistic standards nor the law. Their main activities have become blackmail, spreading fake news, and extortion.”
Luniya warned that if stringent action is not taken immediately, the very fabric of credible media could be at risk.
“Media Must Uphold Truth Over Evil”
Luniya added:
“True journalism is the mirror of society and the fourth pillar of democracy. Today, its integrity is under threat, making nationwide action imperative. Nivaraha Foundation will take robust, legal measures to safeguard media standards.”
Nationwide Initiative with District-Level Action
Under the campaign, the foundation plans to:
- Submit written complaints to district authorities
- Compile a list of fake media entities for legal action
- Establish Anti-Fake Media Task Committees in every district
- Conduct public awareness programs to promote honest journalism
The Nivaraha Foundation has called upon responsible citizens, journalists, and social workers to actively participate in this movement to protect media integrity.
