NIA to File Chargesheet in Pahalgam Terror Attack Case Today

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is set to file a chargesheet today in connection with the Pahalgam terrorist attack that shook Kashmir in April. The attack, carried out by Pakistani terrorists on April 22, targeted tourists and claimed 26 lives. Investigations have revealed the direct involvement of three terrorists in the attack.

According to officials, the NIA will submit the chargesheet in the special NIA court in Jammu.

Arrests and Key Revelations

In June, NIA arrested Parvez Ahmed Jothar (Batkot) and Basheer Ahmed Jothar (Pahalgam) for harboring the three terrorists. These militants, identified as Pakistani nationals affiliated with the proscribed terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba, were killed by the Indian Army on July 28 in a counter-terror operation named ‘Operation Mahadev’ in the outskirts of Srinagar.

The arrested individuals had reportedly provided food, shelter, and logistical support to the terrorists, who were hiding in the Dachigam-Harwan forest area following the Pahalgam attack.

Retaliatory Action: Operation Sindoor

In response to the Pahalgam attack, the Indian Armed Forces launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ on May 7, targeting terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The precision strikes hit nine locations, including headquarters and training centers of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, which were involved in planning attacks against India.

The NIA’s chargesheet is expected to provide detailed evidence of the attackers’ network, their support system, and the sequence of events that led to the tragic attack in Pahalgam.
