New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested the ninth suspect in the November 10 terrorist attack near Red Fort, Delhi. The arrested individual, Yasir Ahmad Dar (19) from Shopian, Jammu & Kashmir, was brought to Delhi for questioning before being formally taken into custody.
Investigations revealed that Dar, like the other perpetrators, had sworn allegiance to commit suicide attacks. NIA sources confirmed that he had pledged loyalty to his group and was in close contact with other accused, suggesting the possibility of more individuals planning fidayeen-style attacks.
Authorities are meticulously tracking all movements and activities of Dar since November 10, while also analyzing connections with other suspects. Previously arrested suspects have undergone DNA and other forensic sample collection, and these are being matched against hair and other evidence collected from Faridabad and elsewhere.
In addition, all suspects have undergone psychological testing. However, reports indicate that several accused were providing false information, prompting plans for repeat testing to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Dar has been placed under NIA remand until 26 December by the Special NIA Court at Patiala House, Delhi. He was produced before the court under tight security, and the Principal District and Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna approved the remand after hearing the agency’s submissions.
Earlier, on 15 December, the court had extended the NIA remand of suspects Dr. Bilal Nasir Malla and Shoaib for four days. During this period, Dr. Malla’s handwriting samples were collected, followed by voice samples recorded under judicial supervision the next day.
The NIA continues to pursue all leads rigorously, using scientific evidence and forensic analysis to strengthen the case against the suspects involved in the Red Fort attack.
