New Delhi: It is not often that one associates humor with tech leadership, but Sundar Pichai proved otherwise at the ongoing AI Impact Summit at Bharat Mandapam in the national capital.
During an interaction at the summit, industrialist Harsh Goenka asked the Google CEO what had brought him to the AI gathering. With a smile, Pichai responded, “My name is Sundar… and I’m here to Pitch-AI,” cleverly playing on his surname and the theme of the summit.
The witty remark drew laughter from the audience and quickly became one of the highlights of the event. Goenka later shared the moment on social media, complete with a playful emoji.
AI Benefits Must Reach Everyone
Beyond the light-hearted exchange, Pichai delivered a serious and forward-looking message about artificial intelligence. He emphasized that while the world stands at the beginning of a major era of technological breakthroughs, positive outcomes are not guaranteed.
“We must work together to ensure that the benefits of AI reach everyone, everywhere,” he said, highlighting the importance of collaboration between India and the United States. He added that Google is proud to serve as a bridge in strengthening technological partnerships between the two nations.
India’s Growing Role in AI Innovation
Pichai noted that Google teams in both India and the US are working seamlessly on some of the company’s most critical projects. He pointed out that innovations originating in India, such as Google Pay, have helped improve products for users worldwide.
Expressing confidence in India’s technological future, he said the country is poised to take an “extraordinary journey” with AI. Google, he added, is supporting this growth with a full-stack commitment spanning products, skilling initiatives, and infrastructure development.
Focus on Indian Consumers and Developers
The Google CEO also spoke about efforts to build AI-powered products and solutions tailored for Indian consumers and businesses. He mentioned that 22 GEMMA models have already been introduced in AI Coach to empower India’s strong developer community.
Pichai said Google is collaborating with the government to ensure AI applications create real-world impact — from helping farmers with timely monsoon predictions to assisting healthcare workers in screening diseases such as diabetic retinopathy.
He reiterated the company’s commitment to rebuilding everyday products with AI at their core, noting that Indian users are among the global leaders in adopting voice and visual search technologies.
The summit, attended by global CEOs, policymakers, and industry leaders, underscored India’s growing stature as a key player in shaping the future of artificial intelligence — with moments of both innovation and humor sharing the spotlight.
