LoC Still Hosts 8 Active Terror Camps; Army Chief Issues Stern Warning to Pakistan

New Delhi: Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi has issued a stern warning to Pakistan, reaffirming that Operation Sindur remains active and any hostile moves will be met with a decisive response. Speaking on the security situation along the Northern and Western fronts, he emphasized that India’s armed forces remain vigilant, strong, and resolute.

Operation Sindur and Pakistan’s Threat

General Dwivedi highlighted that during 2025, 31 terrorists were neutralized, of which 65% were Pakistan-based militants, including three attackers from the Pahalgam incident eliminated under Operation Mahadev. While forward movements on both sides were gradually reduced, the army continues to monitor activity across the International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LoC). According to the Army Chief, eight active terrorist camps remain—two near the IB and six along the LoC.

In recent discussions at the DGMO level, nuclear programs were not raised, but India remains cautious of Pakistan’s maneuvers. The army continues to enhance surveillance and operational readiness in sensitive sectors.

Army Restructuring and Preparedness

General Dwivedi noted ongoing army restructuring, including the creation of Rudra Brigade, Bhairav Battalion, Shaktibaan Regiment, and Agni Platoon, as part of a broader commitment to theaterization. Jammu and Kashmir remain sensitive but fully under control. The army is also advancing drone operations and refining their deployment, accelerating their use post-Operation Sindur.

Positive Signs in Jammu & Kashmir

The Army Chief highlighted encouraging developments in the region: strong development activities, resurgence of tourism, and a peaceful Shri Amarnath Yatra, which saw over 400,000 pilgrims. The number of active local terrorists has dropped to single digits, reflecting a shift from terrorism to tourism.

Stern Message to Pakistan

Reiterating India’s readiness, General Dwivedi stated, “Operation Sindur is ongoing. Any aggressive move by Pakistan will be met with a proportionate and effective response.” He emphasized that the army’s vigilance on the Northern front ensures stability while remaining alert to threats.

With these measures, the Indian Army continues to maintain a balance between firm deterrence and proactive counter-terrorism, ensuring peace and security in Jammu & Kashmir and along the LoC.
