A Kuwait-bound Indigo flight carrying passengers to Delhi was diverted to Ahmedabad following a bomb threat written on a tissue paper. Security agencies acted swiftly to ensure the safety of all on board. Fortunately, the threat was later confirmed to be a hoax.
Swift Action Ensured Passenger Safety
Airport authorities reported that the Indigo flight, en route from Kuwait to Delhi, was diverted to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad around 6:40 a.m. All 180 passengers were safely evacuated. The handwritten note claimed the presence of a bomb inside the aircraft, prompting immediate precautionary measures.
Following the alert, the pilot informed Air Traffic Control, and the flight was rerouted as a safety precaution. Upon landing, passengers were safely disembarked, and security personnel—including police, bomb disposal squads, and sniffer dogs—conducted a thorough search of the aircraft. Initial investigations found no suspicious items, and the flight is expected to resume its journey to Delhi once final clearance is obtained.
Pattern of Recent Threats
This incident is part of a growing trend of security alerts targeting Indigo flights. Just two weeks ago, a Delhi-bound Indigo flight to Bagdogra was diverted to Lucknow after a security threat was reported during boarding.
Last month, two separate Indigo flights were delayed in a single day due to bomb threats. On December 4, a flight from Medina to Hyderabad was forced to make an emergency landing in Ahmedabad following a passenger claim of carrying a bomb. Hours later, another flight on the Sharjah–Hyderabad route was diverted to Mumbai after receiving a threatening email.
These repeated incidents have once again raised concerns about aviation security protocols and the need for vigilant preventive measures.
