India Strengthens Ties with Luxembourg: FM S. Jaishankar Meets Prime Minister Luc Frieden

New Delhi/Luxembourg: India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar is on a six-day official visit to France and Luxembourg, aimed at boosting strategic, economic, and technological partnerships with Europe. On Tuesday, Jaishankar met Luxembourg’s Prime Minister Luc Frieden, marking a significant milestone in India-Luxembourg relations.

During the meeting, both leaders discussed cooperation in financial services, investment, technology, and trade, while Jaishankar conveyed greetings from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also thanked Prime Minister Frieden for supporting stronger India-European Union relations.

This visit assumes added importance at a time when India-Europe relations are gaining momentum, especially as negotiations for the long-pending India-European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA) enter a decisive phase. Earlier, on Monday, FM Jaishankar met Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), to discuss global energy markets, nuclear energy, and strategic energy cooperation. He praised Birol for his insights on the global energy landscape and support for India’s development priorities, sharing his appreciation on social media.
