According to official data presented in Parliament, the India-Bangladesh border has witnessed the highest number of infiltration attempts in recent years, followed by the India-Myanmar, India-Pakistan, and India-Nepal/Bhutan borders.
Infiltration Statistics
Since 2014, there have been no reported infiltration cases along the India-China border. In contrast, a total of 23,926 infiltrators were apprehended along the borders with Pakistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal, and Bhutan during this period.
Breakdown of arrests (2014–2024):
- Bangladesh: 18,851
- Myanmar: 1,165
- Pakistan: 556
- Nepal & Bhutan: 234
Additionally, from January to November 2025, security forces apprehended 3,120 infiltrators, with the highest numbers again along the Bangladesh border. Monthly data for 2025 confirms ongoing infiltration:
- Bangladesh: 2,556
- Myanmar: 437
- Pakistan: 49
- Nepal & Bhutan: 78
Statement from Government
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, provided these figures in written responses to questions from Trinamool Congress MPs Jagdish Chandra Barma Basunia and Sharmila Sagar. He emphasized that no infiltration incidents have been reported along the India-China border, highlighting the distinct security situation on India’s northern frontier.
The data underscores the continued challenges faced along India’s eastern and western borders while reaffirming the effectiveness of security forces in intercepting infiltrators.
