New Delhi.
Vinayak Ashok Luniya, National President of the Nivraha Foundation, has announced an important welfare initiative for journalists and media professionals across the country. The foundation will provide a 40% subsidy on the premium of the Hospicash Insurance Policy designed exclusively for journalists. The programme aims to ensure financial support and health security for media personnel.
Luniya informed that if any journalist is hospitalized due to health reasons, the Hospicash policy will provide ₹1,000 per day as maintenance allowance, paid directly by the insurance company for the duration of hospitalization.
Premium Structure
According to Luniya, the annual premium of the Hospicash policy is ₹1,000, out of which:
- 40% (₹400) will be paid by the Foundation
- 60% (₹600) will be paid by the journalist to avail the benefits
He stated that this initiative will provide financial relief and security to journalists during medical emergencies, ensuring they do not face monetary difficulties in times of need.
Upcoming Schemes – 2026
Luniya further announced that the Foundation is preparing to launch additional subsidized schemes for journalists in 2026, including:
- Mediclaim Policy
- Camera Insurance
- Mobile Insurance
These initiatives will also include special subsidies for media workers.
Benefits for All Journalists—Accredited or Non-Accredited
Luniya emphasized:
“Every media worker, whether accredited or non-accredited, works under risk and pressure while reporting. Therefore, all our schemes will be available without any discrimination to all journalists.”
He added that he himself started his career at a very modest level and faced several challenges in journalism. Hence, he understands the need for social security and welfare support for journalists.
Scheme Effective from 1 December
Through the press statement, Luniya announced that the Hospicash Insurance Scheme will be implemented from 1 December 2025. Interested journalists can fill the insurance application form and deposit their share of the premium to avail the benefits.
Luniya also stated that the Nivraha Foundation is working on several other welfare schemes for media personnel and different organizational wings, which will provide direct benefits to thousands of journalists across the country.
