
New Delhi: Weather patterns in 2026 continue to surprise, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh warning of heavy rainfall in several parts of the country, even as winter is expected to gradually recede. According to the IMD, rainfall activity over the coming days is likely to bring down temperatures again, intensifying cold conditions till February 14.
The department has also warned that dense fog will continue to affect many districts in North India, creating difficult driving conditions during morning hours.
Heavy Rainfall Alert in Six States
The IMD has issued an alert for heavy rainfall in six states during the week. These include:
- Jammu & Kashmir
- Ladakh
- Arunachal Pradesh
- Lakshadweep
- Tamil Nadu
- Puducherry
Additionally, the IMD has forecast that on February 16 and 17, heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds, lightning, and thunderstorms is likely over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Haryana.
The Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad region is expected to witness rainfall and snowfall at isolated places on February 13, 16, and 17.
Snowfall Warning in Himalayan Region
The IMD has also predicted snowfall and rain in parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on February 16 and 17. In Arunachal Pradesh, heavy snowfall is likely in some areas on February 11, 12, and 14.
Thunderstorms Expected in Punjab and Haryana
Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh may experience light rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning on February 16 and 17. Lakshadweep is likely to witness scattered light to moderate rainfall, while North Tamil Nadu and Puducherry could see light to moderate rain on February 13.
Dense Fog Alert in 17 Districts of Uttar Pradesh
The IMD has warned that dense fog conditions are expected to continue in North India till February 14. On February 12, dense fog is likely in several districts of Uttar Pradesh, including:
Meerut, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Agra, Mathura, Aligarh, Hathras, Azamgarh, Ballia, Banda, Hamirpur, Chitrakoot, Mirzapur, and Sonbhadra.
Drivers have been advised to remain cautious, especially during early morning hours due to reduced visibility.
Foggy conditions are also expected in parts of Haryana, including Gurugram, Sonipat, Panipat, Faridabad, and Rohtak, while moderate fog is likely in several districts of Punjab, such as Amritsar, Faridkot, Firozpur, Bathinda, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, and Jalandhar.
Delhi Weather Forecast (February 12)
Delhi is expected to witness clear skies on February 12, while cloud cover may appear on February 13. Light winds at speeds of 10–15 km/h are expected in the morning.

- Minimum Temperature: 11°C
Cold conditions are likely to persist during mornings and evenings.
Uttar Pradesh Weather Forecast
Most districts in Uttar Pradesh will remain dry on February 12. However, foggy conditions are likely in the morning, and cold weather will continue during early and late hours.
Lucknow is expected to record:

- Minimum Temperature: 12°C
Bihar Weather Forecast
According to IMD, Bihar will witness mostly clear weather on February 12, with no rainfall alert issued. Temperatures are expected to rise slightly across the state.

Uttarakhand Weather Forecast
