“I’ll Shoot”: BSF Guards Confront Bangladeshi Youth Filming Sensitive Border Areas

Amid rising violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, the Border Security Force (BSF) is on high alert along the India-Bangladesh border. A viral video shows Bangladeshi youths recording videos near sensitive areas on the Indian side, prompting a BSF jawan to draw his rifle and warn them. The incident comes amid an uptick in infiltration attempts along the border.

Incident at the Border

According to the video circulating on social media, a group of Bangladeshi youths were filming sensitive locations near the Indian border. BSF personnel repeatedly warned them to stop, but the youths did not comply. In response, the jawan loaded his rifle and threatened to open fire to maintain law and order. It remains unclear which specific sector the footage depicts.

Previous BSF Action

The BSF has recently taken strong measures to curb cross-border crime. On December 18, soldiers of the 32nd Battalion in West Bengal arrested two gold smugglers attempting to cross from Bangladesh. The smugglers were found with four gold biscuits weighing a total of 510 grams, valued at ₹67.37 lakh.

Infiltration Attempts at the India-Bangladesh Border

Data presented in the Lok Sabha during the Winter Session indicates that from January to November 2025, the India-Bangladesh border recorded the highest number of infiltration attempts, totaling 1,104, with over 2,556 individuals apprehended—the most among all Indian borders. The government further stated that 79.08% of the border with Bangladesh and 93.25% of the border with Pakistan have been fenced.

Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, in a written reply, shared statistics regarding infiltration attempts and arrests along India’s borders with Bangladesh, China, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, and Myanmar. The figures underline the strategic challenges faced by India in securing its international frontiers.
