
New Delhi: French President Emmanuel Macron, currently on a visit to India, recently met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and shared a photo of the two leaders on his social media, captioning it “Jai Ho.”
During his visit, President Macron addressed the India-France Innovation Forum in Mumbai, underscoring the strength of the India-France strategic partnership. He described France as a committed and enduring partner, standing firmly alongside India.
Innovation and Cooperation
President Macron highlighted India’s growing reputation as a global hub for innovation, saying, “The debate worldwide is no longer whether India innovates, but who wants to innovate with India. France is the clear answer. We are here, and we want to be with you. Long live the India-France relationship.”
He announced that, following a proposal by PM Modi, Innovation Day will be celebrated in Paris a day before the G7 summit under a Franco-Indian initiative, bringing together students and researchers from both countries. The leaders also launched the India-France Year of Innovation, agreeing to further strengthen cooperation across multiple fields.
Indian Leadership in Global Companies
President Macron emphasized that the Indo-French partnership is guided by a vision where innovation is not only about technological breakthroughs but also about improving the economy, everyday life, and ensuring health and safety. He lauded India’s technological progress and highlighted the global presence of Indian-origin CEOs in major multinational companies, pointing to leaders at Alphabet Inc., Microsoft, IBM, Adobe, and Palo Alto Networks. He noted that India not only participates in global innovation but leads it.
