New Delhi: Amid growing public debate and political controversy, Penguin Random House India (PRHI) has released an official statement clarifying that the autobiography of former Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane, titled ‘Four Stars of Destiny’, has not been published yet.
The publishing house stated that it holds the exclusive publishing rights to the book and confirmed that no authorised print or digital copies have been released for sale or public access so far.
No Copy Released in Any Format, Says Publisher
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), PRHI said that in view of recent media reports and public discussions, it wants to make it clear that no part of the book has been officially published, distributed, sold, or made available in any form.
The publisher emphasised that neither a printed version nor a digital edition of the autobiography has been released by them.
Legal Action Warning Over Alleged Leaked Copies
Penguin Random House India also warned that any copy currently circulating—whether online or offline—is an act of copyright infringement.
The publishing house stated that any leaked version, whether full or partial, including formats like PDF, digital files, or printed copies, violates PRHI’s copyright and must be stopped immediately.
PRHI further added that it will take all legal measures available under law against anyone involved in the unauthorised distribution or circulation of the book.
Political Controversy Triggered in Parliament
The controversy around the book intensified last week after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi reportedly attempted to quote from what he described as a “pre-print copy” of General Naravane’s autobiography during his speech in the Lok Sabha while discussing the President’s address.
The ruling party strongly objected to the reference, leading to repeated disruptions in Parliament. Despite the uproar and slogans raised by opposition MPs, the House eventually passed the motion of thanks through a voice vote.
Delhi Police Registers Case
Meanwhile, Delhi Police has taken note of reports circulating on social media platforms and news forums claiming that a pre-print copy of the autobiography has been leaked.
The Special Cell of Delhi Police has registered a case in connection with the alleged leak and unauthorised circulation of an unapproved publication.
Publisher Reiterates Exclusive Rights
PRHI reiterated that it is the only authorised publisher of Four Stars of Destiny and urged that any unauthorised copies being circulated must be withdrawn immediately, as the publisher remains committed to protecting its copyright and publishing rights.
