“Efforts to End Inequality”: Rajnath Singh on One Rank, One Pension

On the occasion of Armed Forces Veterans Day, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid a heartfelt tribute to the courage, sacrifice, and lifelong service of India’s ex-servicemen at Manekshaw Centre, Delhi Cantonment. Speaking to the veterans, he emphasized the government’s commitment to the One Rank, One Pension (OROP) scheme, highlighting its impact on financial stability and welfare for the nation’s veterans.

One Rank, One Pension: A Step Toward Equality

Addressing the gathering, Rajnath Singh said that the long-standing demand for OROP has now been implemented with complete sincerity. “We have worked to eliminate the inequality that our veterans have experienced for years,” he said. The Defence Minister emphasized that the scheme not only provides financial stability but also reinforces trust that the nation stands by its heroes.

No Compromise on Veterans’ Health

On healthcare, Rajnath Singh underscored that there will be no compromise for those who have dedicated their lives to the nation. The Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) is being strengthened continuously. “Our aim is to ensure healthcare access extends beyond cities to villages and remote areas, so that veterans living in far-flung regions face no difficulty,” he said.

The Minister also highlighted the expansion of telemedicine services, enabling veterans to consult doctors remotely, removing barriers caused by distance or age. Additionally, the government is encouraging veterans to start their own enterprises and has simplified day-to-day processes to support their livelihood and well-being.

Honouring the Nation’s Fallen Heroes

Rajnath Singh further noted that the government is committed to honoring soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation. Initiatives such as the National War Memorial serve as reminders to every citizen of the sacrifices behind India’s peace and freedom. Local-level memorials across the country are also being promoted to instill respect and gratitude in future generations.
