
EC Extends SIR Deadline in UP and Five Other States: Check the Updated Schedule
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has extended the deadline for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in five states and one Union Territory, following requests from the respective Chief Electoral Officers.
The extension covers Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
According to the Commission, the rescheduling aims to ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the electoral rolls prepared on the qualifying date of January 1, 2026.
Revised Dates for Draft Electoral Roll Publication
Tamil Nadu & Gujarat
- New date: 19 December 2025
- Earlier date: 14 December 2025
Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh & Andaman & Nicobar Islands
- New date: 23 December 2025
- Earlier date: 18 December 2025
Uttar Pradesh
- New date: 31 December 2025
- Earlier date: 26 December 2025
Previous Schedule and Other States
Earlier, the counting period under SIR for these six states/UTs was scheduled to end on 11 December 2025, with draft rolls to be published on 16 December 2025.
For Goa, Gujarat, Lakshadweep, Rajasthan, and West Bengal, the counting concludes today, 11 December 2025, and draft rolls will be published on 16 December 2025 as planned.
Kerala’s Schedule Was Revised Earlier
Kerala had already been granted an extension.
- The counting period will now end on 18 December 2025,
- And the draft electoral roll will be published on 23 December 2025.
EC Encourages New Voters to Register
To ensure maximum coverage, the Commission has urged eligible new voters to submit Form 6 along with the required declaration to their Booth Level Officers (BLOs), or fill it online through the ECI-Net portal or the Voter Services app.
