The Congress on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after Nitin Nabin was formally declared the new national president of the ruling party. Taking a swipe at the process, the opposition party said the BJP announced the president first, then spoke of holding an election—but the election itself never took place.
Reacting to Nabin’s elevation, Congress media department chairman Pawan Khera questioned the very idea of calling it an “election.”
“Where did the election happen? Why should it even be called an election? First, you declared the president, then you announced that an election would be held, but the election never happened,” Khera told reporters.
Dig at Chief Election Commissioner
Khera went a step further, dragging the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) into the political jibe. He sarcastically claimed that CEC Gyanesh Kumar now wanted to resign because he had no role to play in the BJP president’s election.
“He didn’t get a chance to influence anything or manipulate anything,” Khera remarked, continuing his criticism in a tongue-in-cheek manner.
“Bigg Boss Game” Allegation
Taking a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP leadership, Khera alleged that the ruling party was treating the political process like a reality show.
“Swami Avimukteshwaranand has tears in his eyes, and the Prime Minister and BJP leaders are playing a ‘Bigg Boss’ game,” he said, using a metaphor to suggest that serious democratic processes were being reduced to spectacle.
Nitin Nabin Replaces J.P. Nadda
It may be noted that Nitin Nabin was formally declared the BJP’s national president on Tuesday, replacing J.P. Nadda. While the BJP has projected the development as part of its internal organizational process, the Congress has seized the opportunity to question its transparency and democratic nature.
With the war of words intensifying, the latest remarks add another layer to the growing political sparring between the ruling party and the opposition ahead of key electoral battles.
