Congress Compares Rahul Gandhi to Lord Ram, BJP Calls It an Unforgivable Insult

New Delhi: A statement by a Congress leader comparing Rahul Gandhi to Lord Ram has ignited a political firestorm. The BJP has strongly condemned the remark, calling it an “unforgivable insult to faith” and accusing Congress of excessive flattery.

Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole, in a recent interview, likened Rahul Gandhi’s actions to those of Lord Ram, claiming that the opposition leader is performing the same duties that the deity undertook.

BJP Slams the Statement
BJP national spokesperson C.R. Kesavan sharply criticized Patole’s comments, saying, “Nana Patole’s comparison of Rahul Gandhi to Lord Ram is a grave insult to the sentiments and faith of millions of Hindu devotees. Earlier, he had also shown disrespect by demanding ‘purification’ of the revered President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to the Ayodhya Ram Temple, which was meant for the nation’s welfare.”

Allegations of Flattery and Hypocrisy
Another BJP spokesperson, Shahzad Punawalla, accused Congress of crossing the line with excessive flattery. “Once again, the Congress has shown its tendency for sycophancy by claiming Rahul Gandhi is like Lord Ram. Just recently, they suggested that Christmas celebrations are only possible because of Sonia Gandhi. Such flattery is unacceptable, and at the same time, the party continues to insult Hindu faith. This is the same Congress that opposed the construction of the Ram Temple and mocked the Pran Pratishtha ceremonies as mere ‘dance and music.’ They continue to attack the sentiments of Hindu devotees.”

Patole Defends His Remarks
Defending his statement, Patole said, “Our leader Rahul Gandhi is performing the work of Lord Ram. Lord Ram’s mission was to provide justice to the oppressed, the marginalized, and the suffering. Rahul Gandhi travels across the country performing the same duties. Visiting the temple for a photo session is less meaningful than serving the poor and the oppressed, which Rahul Ji prioritizes.”

The comments have sparked intense debate, highlighting the growing polarization around political discourse and religious sentiments in the country.
