New Delhi/Thiruvananthapuram: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)–led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is the only political force capable of realising the vision of a “Viksit Keralam” (Developed Kerala), launching a sharp attack on the state’s ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the opposition United Democratic Front (UDF), accusing them of being indifferent to development.
Addressing a public gathering in Thiruvananthapuram, the Prime Minister described his visit to the Kerala capital as an emotional and memorable experience. He said the enthusiasm and energy witnessed at the rally reflected a growing desire for change and marked the beginning of a new political chapter in the state.
“The energy I see here gives me confidence that Kerala is ready for transformation. The hard work of lakhs of BJP workers is now bearing fruit,” Modi said.
Later, in a post on social media platform X, the Prime Minister reiterated his stand, stating, “Yesterday’s visit to Thiruvananthapuram was unforgettable. BJP and NDA alone can fulfil the dream of a ‘Viksit Keralam’. UDF and LDF have no real interest in development.”
Drawing a parallel with his political journey in Gujarat, Modi recalled that before 1987, the BJP was a small and limited force in the state. He said the party’s first major breakthrough came with a victory in the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, after which public trust gradually expanded across Gujarat.
“Just as Gujarat’s transformation began in one city, a similar change is now visible in Kerala. The recent success in Thiruvananthapuram signals that people here are beginning to place their faith in the BJP,” he said.
Launching a strong attack on both the LDF and UDF, the Prime Minister accused them of neglecting Thiruvananthapuram for decades. He alleged that successive governments failed to provide basic infrastructure and modern facilities, ignoring the genuine needs of the people.
Modi said the BJP has already begun working towards building a developed Thiruvananthapuram and expressed confidence that the long-awaited change would soon become a reality. He pledged to transform the city into a model urban centre and make it one of the best cities in India.
His remarks come amid intensifying political activity in Kerala, with the BJP seeking to expand its footprint in a state traditionally dominated by the LDF and UDF.
