Arshad Madni Urges Those Dreaming of a Hindu Nation to Learn from Nepal’s History

New Delhi, Feb 7, 2026: Arshad Madni, President of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, on Saturday addressed the ongoing debate over the idea of a Hindu nation in India, urging those who support it to take lessons from the history of neighboring Nepal. Posting on his social media account X, Madni emphasized that the path to national progress lies in love, harmony, and justice, not in imposing any single religion or ideology.

Madni highlighted that some communal forces and organizations are pursuing the dream of a Hindu nation. “They should learn from Nepal, where similar ideologies were used to establish a Hindu state. Ultimately, that system collapsed, and a democratic constitution was restored,” he said.

He stressed that real progress, stability, and public welfare in any country are possible only when democratic institutions and constitutional values are protected, rather than enforcing one religion or ideology on the nation.

Madni further warned that no attempt by communal elements to convert India into a Hindu nation will succeed. He reaffirmed Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind’s commitment to defending secularism and the Indian Constitution, stating, “History shows that communities that wish to preserve their identity, culture, and religion must be prepared for sacrifices.”

Addressing concerns about communal hostility, Madni said, “Some forces are trying to erase Islam and Muslims, but they do not realize that the light of Islam can never be extinguished. Those who attempted to do so have themselves disappeared. We are a living community, and living communities create new stories of success through wisdom, foresight, and strategy.”

He concluded with a message of hope, asserting, “There is no need to despair over the current situation. One day, tyranny will end, and the country will move forward on the path of love, harmony, and justice once again.”
