Toxic Air Returns to Ghaziabad: AQI Soars to 368, Doctors Warn Residents to Step Out Only If Urgent

By Vibhu Mishra | Ghaziabad | November 3, 2025

Ghaziabad’s air has once again turned poisonous, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching a dangerous level of 368 — categorized as “very poor.” The city is blanketed in a toxic mix of smog and dust, making it difficult for residents to even breathe. Doctors have urged people to step outdoors only if absolutely necessary — and to wear N-95 masks for protection.

According to experts, the concentration of PM 2.5 particles in the air poses a serious health risk, especially to children, the elderly, and asthma patients. Medical professionals have advised residents to avoid morning walks and outdoor exercise, suggesting that they work out indoors instead.

Civic Negligence Amid Rising Pollution

Despite the air quality plunging to hazardous levels, the Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation and the Pollution Control Department have failed to take visible measures. No water sprinkling is being done to suppress roadside dust. Citizens have criticized the administration, stating that authorities wake up only on paper every year, while the ground situation continues to deteriorate.

Locals Complain of Breathing Trouble and Eye Irritation

Vasundhara resident Jai Kumar Sharma, a regular morning jogger, said, “I used to run 10 kilometers daily, but now I feel breathless even after walking two. The air is so polluted that my eyes burn constantly.”

Residents have demanded that the administration immediately deploy anti-smog guns and water-spray machines across the city, warning that prolonged exposure to such toxic air could lead to a spike in respiratory and cardiac diseases.
