Rajasthan Government Announces ₹10 Lakh Compensation for Victims of Phalodi Tragedy

In a major relief to the victims’ families of the Phalodi Tempo Traveller accident, the Rajasthan government has announced financial assistance for those affected. As per the official statement, each deceased victim’s family will receive ₹10 lakh as compensation.

Minister-in-Charge Madan Dilawar confirmed that compensation will be provided on the same lines as the Jaisalmer accident victims. The district administration further clarified that if three or more members of a single family lost their lives, a maximum of ₹25 lakh will be granted. Additionally, seriously injured persons will receive ₹2 lakh, and those with minor injuries will get ₹1 lakh.

The government has also ordered a detailed investigation into the incident. Following the announcement, the protest outside the hospital mortuary was called off.

The Tragic Incident

The accident occurred in the Phalodi area of Jodhpur, when a Tempo Traveller carrying pilgrims collided with a stationary truck, resulting in the instant death of 15 passengers. The mishap triggered widespread anger and protests from the victims’ families demanding compensation.

Expressing grief over the tragedy, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Union Minister and Jodhpur MP Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot extended their condolences to the bereaved families.
