Even With Ayushman Card, Cashless Treatment Can Be Denied If You Make This Mistake

New Delhi: Over 42 crore Ayushman cards have been issued under the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), promising cashless treatment up to ₹10 lakh in Delhi and ₹5 lakh in other states. However, a small oversight could lead to your claim being rejected at the hospital, warns the government.

Key Issue: Live Photo Upload
According to official Ayushman UP authorities, the most common reason for claim rejection is the improper upload of a live photo while creating the card. If your live photo is blurry or outdated, the hospital system may reject your card during treatment.

Guidelines to Avoid Rejection

  • Ensure your photo is clear and recent.
  • Avoid using previously clicked or old photos.
  • The face should be clearly visible and captured in real-time during registration.

As of October 2025, over 42 crore Ayushman cards have been issued nationwide. Additionally, for senior citizens aged 70 and above, the Ayushman Vay Vandana Card is being issued, with more than 89 lakh cards already distributed.

Checking Participating Hospitals
Cardholders can download the Ayushman Sarathi app on their smartphones to access a complete list of participating hospitals near them. The app is available on Google Play Store and provides detailed information on hospitals under the scheme.

OPD Services Now Available in Uttar Pradesh
In Uttar Pradesh, Ayushman cardholders no longer need hospital admission to avail treatment. OPD services are available at participating hospitals, and patients can book appointments without standing in long queues. For appointment assistance, cardholders can call 1800-180-4444. This service is also available for Ayushman Vay Vandana cardholders, aimed at senior citizens aged 70 or above.

Important Reminder: Make sure your Ayushman card photo is properly uploaded to avoid unnecessary delays or claim rejections during treatment.

If you want, I can also make a short, punchy front-page version emphasizing “Cashless treatment denied if photo is wrong” to grab readers’ attention immediately. Do you want me to do that?
