Delhi News: DDA Takes Full Possession of Signature View Apartments — All 12 Towers to Be Demolished Manually, Not by Blasting

New Delhi:

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has officially taken full possession of the Signature View Apartments located in Mukherjee Nagar, marking a major step toward the long-awaited demolition and reconstruction of the project. All 12 residential towers have now been completely vacated by residents following the DDA’s final eviction notice.

According to officials, the DDA has appointed a consultant to conduct a detailed structural survey and prepare a demolition plan for the complex. Once the survey is complete, the step-by-step demolition schedule will be finalized.

Traditional Demolition Method Approved

Contrary to earlier reports suggesting that the towers might be brought down through controlled explosions similar to Noida’s Supertech Twin Towers, the DDA has now clarified that Signature View Apartments will be demolished manually, floor by floor.

Experts have determined that the structural integrity of the buildings is too weak to safely insert explosives for demolition. Therefore, for safety reasons, a traditional, non-explosive demolition method will be used.

Background

Earlier, the DDA had issued notices instructing all residents to vacate their flats by October 28, following safety concerns over the deteriorating condition of the buildings. With all units now vacated and possession transferred to the authority, the path is clear for the redevelopment process to begin.

Officials also stated that due to the weakened structure and nearby residential complexes, using explosives could pose significant risks. Hence, the authority decided to proceed with a controlled manual demolition, ensuring safety and minimal disruption to the surrounding area.

Once cleared, the DDA plans to reconstruct the residential towers, adhering to modern safety and design standards, providing a safer and improved housing complex for future residents.
