₹14 Lakh Bounty Woman Naxalite Surrenders, Receives ₹4.10 Lakh Reward — Final Decision to Be Taken in Bhopal


Balaghat (Madhya Pradesh): A woman Naxalite carrying a bounty of ₹14 lakh has surrendered in Balaghat district, marking a significant step toward returning to mainstream life. Identified as Sunita, the 22-year-old woman surrendered with an INSAS rifle and three magazines. Under the state’s surrender and rehabilitation policy, she has been granted a total reward of ₹4.10 lakh.

Trained Cadre and Area Committee Member

Sunita, a native of Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh, had joined the Naxal organization in 2022. She reportedly underwent six months of arms and tactics training before being appointed as an Area Committee Member. Her surrender took place late Saturday night at the Chauria Camp of Pitkona Police Outpost under Lanji Police Station limits.

Reward Breakdown

According to officials, Sunita was immediately provided ₹50,000 as initial assistance, ₹3.5 lakh for surrendering the INSAS rifle, and ₹10,000 for three magazines — bringing the total reward to ₹4.10 lakh.

Key Intel Shared with Police

During interrogation, the surrendered Naxalite provided crucial information about Naxal network movements and training modules. This intelligence has been forwarded to the Police Headquarters in Bhopal, where a state-level committee headed by the Director General of Intelligence (DG-Intelligence) will take the final decision on her official surrender status and rehabilitation benefits.

Tight Security Arrangements

Balaghat Superintendent of Police Aditya Mishra confirmed that Sunita is currently under strict police protection, emphasizing that her safety is a top priority. He added that the surrender reflects the success of ongoing efforts to bring Naxal-affected individuals back into the social mainstream.
