After her recent election victory, Maithili Thakur, Bihar’s youngest MLA, has shifted to her official residence in Patna. The housewarming ceremony reflected her new political stature while also showcasing her taste for simple yet elegant home décor, providing inspiration for design enthusiasts.
Maithili Thakur, popularly known as “Bihar’s Daughter,” is also a celebrated folk singer whose melodious voice and dedication to Indian folk music have earned her recognition both nationally and internationally at a young age. She recently moved into her new home in Patna with her family, and photos of the housewarming ceremony quickly went viral on social media.
Representing the Alinagar constituency in Darbhanga as a BJP MLA, Thakur, at just 25 years of age, became Bihar’s youngest legislator. Her new residence in Patna is a two-story structure painted in white and cream, giving it a modern and clean appearance. Large glass windows and open balconies have been prioritized in the design to maximize natural light. The house was adorned with marigold flowers for the housewarming ceremony, reflecting a blend of tradition and elegance.
Entrance and Nameplate
The entry gate and nameplate highlight simplicity while reflecting cultural identity. The main entrance features a modern black iron gate, decorated with yellow and orange marigold garlands and banana leaves during the ceremony. A white wall beside the gate bears the nameplate with “Alinagar” and “Constituency No.-81” inscribed, blending tradition with modernity.
Interior Highlights
Inside, the house offers a harmonious mix of modern amenities and traditional simplicity. White walls and large glass windows make the rooms spacious and airy, while white tiled floors and contemporary ceiling fans add a modern touch. The living area is large enough for the family to gather, and the space also serves as a place for prayer and religious rituals.
Modular Kitchen
The kitchen combines modern functionality with traditional aesthetics. Equipped with stainless steel appliances, a modular chimney, and white-and-cream tiled walls, it reflects contemporary needs while maintaining a cultural touch. During the housewarming ceremony, Maithili performed the ritual of boiling milk in the kitchen, symbolizing prosperity and abundance in Indian tradition.
Veranda and Outdoor Spaces
The house also features a spacious outdoor area for parking and seating. During the ceremony, a Harinam Sankirtan was performed in this open space. The combination of walls and iron railings provides a secure boundary while adding to the home’s aesthetic appeal. The matching design of the gate and railings contributes to a classy, cohesive look, showing that attention to small details can transform a house into a beautiful and elegant home.
