When trying to conceive, following a doctor’s advice is crucial, as ignoring it can sometimes lead to serious consequences. Here’s a case that highlights why it’s important to follow medical guidance carefully.
The Case:
Couples often face difficulties conceiving and visit a gynecologist to understand the reasons. After thorough examinations, doctors give specific instructions that are essential to follow. However, some couples overlook these critical guidelines, which can hinder conception.
A recent example involves a woman who visited renowned gynecologist Dr. Shafali Dadheech for fertility consultation. Despite the doctor’s guidance, she avoided intimacy with her husband—the most crucial step for conception. When asked why, her reasons left even the expert exclaiming in disbelief.
The Two Reasons:
In an Instagram video, Dr. Dadheech asked the woman, “Yesterday was your Purnima fast, so you didn’t have intercourse. What about the day before?” The woman replied, “The day before, we had an argument, and my husband returned late, so I couldn’t do it.”
Essentially, she had skipped intimacy during her peak fertility days—one of the most important factors for conception. While she was monitoring ovulation through sonography, fasting and personal disagreements prevented her from having intercourse on the right days.
Lack of Awareness About Fertility Days:
Dr. Dadheech explains that infertility in many couples arises because they are unaware of their fertile window. Couples often do not realize which days are optimal for conception.
Common Misconception:
Many couples assume that trying for pregnancy sporadically, whenever the husband is home, is sufficient. When conception doesn’t occur immediately, they worry, thinking they have been trying for months without success.
Expert Advice:
Dr. Dadheech advises that couples identify their fertility days with a doctor’s guidance and plan intercourse during this window. Relaxed, timely attempts significantly increase the chances of conception—nearly 50% of couples conceive once they understand and follow the right timing. Arguments and daily stress should be set aside during this crucial period.
